Your Old Mirror TV Died. Here’s What to Do Next.

replace a mirror TV

If you’re reading this, something has gone wrong with your mirror TV. Maybe it stopped turning on. Maybe the picture disappeared. Maybe it slowly degraded until it wasn’t worth watching anymore.

Whatever happened, you have more mirror TV replacement options than you might think. Here’s how to determine the correct next step.

Why Mirror TVs Fail

Mirror TVs fail for the same reasons any TV fails. Electronics age, components wear out, and eventually something gives. If the TV was in a bathroom, sauna, or kitchen, moisture and heat accelerate that process. If it was in a bedroom or living room, it’s more likely just a matter of old age or build quality.

Either way, repair is rarely the best answer. Mirror TVs are sealed, integrated units, and the parts and expertise required to fix them usually aren’t available or cost-effective. It’s been a long time since a TV repair man was a viable solution for a failing television.

If You Have a Standard Mirror TV

For a straightforward mirror TV replacement, our Magic Mirror TVs are available from 24″ to 75″. And if the TV was in a bathroom, sauna, or kitchen, ours are built specifically to thrive in those environments. IPX4-certified moisture and steam resistance, heat-resistant construction up to 175°F, steel frames, and sealed connection ports.

If the TV was in a dry environment like a bedroom or living room, the same build quality still applies. Either way, you’re getting a significantly better-built replacement.

If You Have a Custom-Built Mirror TV

If your mirror TV is built into a larger setup — for example a TV behind a large mirror, an architectural installation, or a non-standard configuration — you have two good options.

Custom Mirror Bedroom

The first is to replace the whole setup through our custom shop. We build mirror TVs to order: custom sizes, custom mirror shapes, and configurations that don’t exist in a standard product catalog. You tell us what you have, what your space looks like, and what you need, and we’ll work with you to put together a plan.

Or, if you’re happy with the mirror you already have and just need a more reliable TV to go behind it, our open frame TVs may be what you need. An open frame TV is a Parallel AV television without the front glass panel, designed to be mounted behind your existing two-way mirror. They’re available from 24″ to 75″, as well, with the same moisture-resistant, heat-resistant construction as our standard Magic Mirror TVs. Keep the mirror. Replace the electronics.

Consider How You Want It Installed

If you’re replacing a mirror TV, it’s worth taking a moment to think about whether the installation itself could be improved at the same time.

Our Magic Mirror TVs are designed for both in-wall installation and on-wall mounting. If you want the mirror and TV to sit flush with the wall so it looks like a high-end wall mirror when not in use, our Magic Mirror TVs can do that. If you prefer it wall-mounted in a frame, we can do that too.

If you’re curious about what an in-wall installation actually involves, here’s everything you need to know.

A Final Thought: Ready for Any Room

Whatever mirror TV replacement you choose, make sure the TV is actually ready for the environment it’s going into. If it’s in a wet or high-heat environment like a bathroom or kitchen, look for documented IPX4 certification, sealed connection ports, and construction rated for sustained heat. Most mirror TVs on the market can’t make that case honestly.

Ours can.
